How many of us have gotten in trouble for Daydreaming? Well, let’s be the first to tell you, it’s not always a bad thing. In fact, Spain native and music producer Evan proves that it is more useful than useless and provides the perfect soundtrack for the next time you find your head sneaking off to the clouds with his latest EP, “DAYDREAM.”

“I fell in love with hip-hop at age 17, when I first discovered, Nujabes. I never found jazz particularly interesting until then; his ability to fuse hip-hop drums and jazz elements amazed me. It was like a whole new world opening in front of my eyes.” -Evan

Hailing from Palma de Mallorca, the capital and largest city of the Balearic Islands, where the water is a stunningly bright turquoise and the historically clad streets serve more than amazing architecture to its residents, it’s no wonder Evan’s sound embodies an extraordinary rhythm and synergy brought together by clean, piercing drums.

However, on Evan’s “DAYDREAM” EP, you may find more of his brilliance through smooth soundscapes, colorful melodies, and on tracks like “Night Thoughts” a rhythmic beat count so unique, it occasionally gives the illusion the song is being sped up when it is actually still in its dedicated measure.

“What I like about this generation is that you can sit in your room with your old crusty laptop and translate it into the real world. I would’ve never imagined picking up the bass to play a song I’ve created in my room.”

A Wild Evan

Another example of Evan’s cunning comes through on the intro track, “Boondocks.” With the indulging rhythm of the drums, just when you’re yearning for the beat to continue, a swift change to a sample of Idris Muhammad’s “Could Heaven Ever Be Like This” takes hold (Very similar to how artist, Chrome Sparks did on his heart racing song, ” Marijuana.”)

Evan’s five track magic entitled, “DAYDREAM” is worth more than an open ear, but some mad props for bringing his inspirations of Nujabes, Dilla, Madlib, MF DOOM, Thundercat, FlyLo, Ta-ku, and Tom Misch from his mind to his fingertips.

You can support Evan through his Bandcamp or by following him Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Soundcloud.
